Arts & Culture - Andy Warhol at the AGA Package
This summer, the Art Gallery of Alberta is proud to host Andy Warhol: Manufactured. The only Canadian venue on the exhibit's international tour, the AGA celebrates Warhol's creative genius and complex individuality. The show highlights Warhol's fascination with celebrity and art in American culture, from his early commercial illustrations to the films, portraits and prints of the Factory years. Visitors can also see a re-creation of Warhol's 1966 work Silver Clouds in the gallery's Borealis Room, where metalized plastic forms are filled with helium and left to float freely above gallery-goers' heads.
Feed the body as well as the mind and stop at the Fat Franks hotdog stand in Churchill Square! In honour of Warhol's arrival in Edmonton, the famous street-side dining cart has created the Andy Dog - a European wiener smothered in Dijon mustard, red onions and pickles and topped with crushed potato chips.
Andy Warhol: Manufactured runs from May 28th until August 21st, 2011. Book your package now and help celebrate Andy Warhol's artistic legacy.
